Congressman Brendan Boyle has a long-standing interest in US and European foreign policy and NATO issues. He is Co-Chair of the Congressional European Union Caucus and also holds a leadership position in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. He formerly served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He travels frequently to Europe to discuss NATO issues, and will be attending the high-level Munich Security Conference just prior to speaking with us.
As the son of a janitor and school crossing guard, Congressman Boyle was the first in his family to attend college. He went to the University of Notre Dame on an academic scholarship, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Government and completed the Hesburgh Program in Public Service. Congressman Boyle later attended graduate school at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He graduated from Harvard in 2005, earning a master's degree in Public Policy. In 2011, the Aspen Institute chose Boyle as one of its Rodel Fellows, a program that "seeks to enhance our democracy by identifying and bringing together the nation's most promising young political leaders." He has been a US Congressman representing Philadelphia areas since 2015. Since January 2023, he has served as Ranking Member of United States House Committee on the Budget.
